Geocache Description:

This shrine is to commemorate Cheng-Kung Zheng, who was given the hornor of use the same last name as emperors' of Ming Dynasty.
That is the meaning of Ko-Xing (in Chinese: Emperor's last name); and the "a" in Ko-xinga means like "duke".

Officer introduce of the shrine:

Established after 1662 (the 16th year of the reign Emperor Yung-Li un the Ming Dynasty), originally named "Temple of Founder King", which means to acclaim his feats to expel Dutchmen to recover Taiwan and expand the territory, and he was a lonely and disappointed loyal officer trying to prolong the Ming Dynasty.

In 1874 (the 13th year of the reign of Emperor Tung-Chih in the Ching Dynasty), due to the Mou Tan Community incident, Shen Pao-Chen came to Taiwan to make plans for affairs pertaining to national defence. He submitted a request to Ching Dynasty for rendering an honorable name and establishing a shrine for the founders Titling position to commenorate him, Koxinga, and listing him to be worshipped by descendants, so as to encourage moral custom and elevate civilian's ethic.

The request was made under the ground that he was the lonely and disappointed officer in the Ming Dynasty, not the Dynasty's rogue.

The construction of the shirine started in 1875 (the 1st year of Emperor Kuang-Hsu) in Fuzhou style.
By then, the character of Koxinga was highly respected and appraised by the Ming and Ching Dynasties and shrine was renamed as "Ming Dynasty Koxinga's Shrine".
